This place was awesome.
The selection of food was good, it was cooked properly, and it all was very flavorful.
I come from a town with a smaller city about 30 minutes away and this way better than the buffet thats there. I kind of expected it to be bad simply from my main experience back home.
Thank god I was wrong!
The staff were friendly as well. Very kid friendly place. It was clean, the decorations were simple yet inviting. And the fish pond was a very fun bonus for my children. -

For a family of 6 one would think going to a buffet it would be easier and let my teen boys and husband have the ability to satisfy their appetite.
First of all each plate is $16.99 plus a drink for $2.49 both are pretty high for a buffet. Still thinking maybe the food would be worth it. Shoot there was a "sushi" option and Mongolian grill.
Took a stroll around and saw some choices, they even had pizza and Mac and cheese which one of my daughters tried and rated the Mac a -5. And she isn't a picky eater. (I'm thinking why go to a Chinese restaurant and get pizza and Mac? But whatever).
Let's talk sushi, it tasted like the rice was made yesterday and undercooked (crunchy) the sauce used I think was orange colored miracle whip.
The main entrees were flavorless and mushy.
Out of the food I would say stick with the veg spring rolls and the ice cream.
Not worth the $130 we spent. The money they should spend on is a new cook. Stop looking at the koi pond and look toward the kitchen and food choices flavor.
Save yourself the money and don't go. Please don't waist your money. You're better off going to Panda Express. -

I normally don't go for buffet style restaurants, but I made an exception here as it was recommended to me by an acquaintance.
We had semi-high hopes, the reviews weren't stellar by any means but not horrible. The restaurant appeared clean, the koi pond is a nice touch and no strange smells upon entry.
But any hopes we had were quickly dashed. The food was mediocre at best, some of the dishes not kept hot and as for the sushi, we'll I didn't expect much at all but seriously it's nothing at all like what's advertised, a complete farce. There were just a few variations of the California roll, unappetizing veggie rolls, and no nigiri at all for the hour we were there 5:30-6:30 though they promised several times it was coming.
To cap it all off, there are many signs chastising anyone who dares waste food, and frankly since the food is generally pretty awful they should expect it to have many unfinished plates! How about better food? That would solve the problem.
Oh, and the weird religious vibe is off-putting as well. There's a sign up sheet as you go in, asking if you want them to pray for anyone. Well, given the quality of the food, prayers are definitely in order! -

Vegetarian review:
Canaan has a few vegetarian and vegan options, so you could have a complete meal here! The interior is pretty and clean, and features a really lovely water feature in the restaurant. The food itself is so-so, maybe even a little sub-par for a Chinese buffet, but there are a lot of options. The price is steep at $20 a person, though! -

My wife and I had lunch at Canaan Buffet today. It was our first time there, and the lady at the front counter, Oksana, recommended we try the Mongolian Grill feature, which I did, and it was outstanding. I later sampled several buffet items, and all were excellent. Oksana came and asked how my Mongolian plate was, and seemed genuine in wanting to ensure I was well pleased.
We will certainly be returning to this establishment.
